Susan works as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in a group practice. Prior to working in group practice, Susan spent seventeen years working in a variety of settings and populations which include Department of Children and Family Services, Community Based Services, schools, and churches. During this time, Susan provided therapy and counseling, assessment & case management to both adults, children, and families in minorities and vulnerable populations.
Susan graduated with a Master’s Degree in Social Work from The Florida State University in 2009. Prior to that, she received an undergraduate degree from SUNY Oswego in 2000.
Through personal and professional discovery, she developed a niche of working with neurodivergent adults and parents more specifically those who have a diagnosis of ADHD and Autism. When Susan discovered that there was a significant need in the adult neurodivergent community, she began to put together a therapy, which includes but is not limited to, reparenting, developing an authentic identity, including and developing special interests, grief and loss, and learning how to set and maintain healthy boundaries. Susan is a neurodivergent adult and parent who hopes to strengthen neurodivergent and minority communities by developing a new way of doing therapy and treatment specifically fitted for them.
Susan specializes in individual eclectic therapy, which means she draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches to tailor my interventions specifically to your unique needs and personal behavior patterns. Understanding that every individual's mind works differently, I prioritize creating a safe and inclusive space where you can feel unmasked and authentic. Here, you are encouraged to be your true self without judgment. Together, we will explore your experiences and develop strategies that resonate with your unique way of thinking and being. My goal is to support you in finding your path to well-being through methods that honor and leverage your distinct neurodivergent strengths.
Susan has an eclectic style to supervision in clinical social work which is a flexible and integrative approach that draws from multiple theoretical frameworks to provide comprehensive support and guidance to social workers in practice. Unlike supervision that adheres strictly to one theoretical model, eclectic supervision allows for the blending of various techniques and perspectives, such as psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and solution focused brief, depending on the needs of the supervisee and the specific client cases being discussed. My approach fosters a more tailored supervision experience, encouraging social workers to develop a broad skill set and apply different methodologies in their practice. Eclectic supervision also promotes adaptability, critical thinking, and the ability to navigate complex clinical situations, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of social work interventions and the professional growth of the supervisee. Additionally, my goal is also to listen, reflect, be present, and provide feedback to your specific needs so that you are empowered to grow and develop. I also want to create an atmosphere of trust through the clinical relationship. Together, our collaborative efforts and thinking outside the box will provide a unique approach to clients. I aim to model healthy boundaries to promote intern and client care.
